DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAMS

READING

Reading Mastery 1 & 2 use a phonics-based approach to teach all the skills needed to become a competent, fluent reader.  Three major skills taught are the decoding of words, reading comprehension, and reading independently.  Reading Mastery 3-6 focuses on extending vocabulary and comprehension skills, and provides practice in writing.

Decoding A, B, and C  focus on developing fluency and accuracy in reading.  Each of the lessons includes an extensive word list, followed by a story in which these words are used in context.

WRITING

Reasoning and Writing, levels A-E systematically teaches students to use higher-order thinking skills, combined with the development of writing skills.

SPELLING

Spelling Mastery, levels A-F, teaches a sound-symbol strategy for spelling simple, regular words as well as the spelling of high-utility irregular words.

MATH

Connecting Math Concepts, levels A-F, is organized to present work on skills continuously, which allows for automatic review because students use all the skills, including problem solving, in every lesson.
